Teacher for the Visually Impaired - Rosamond, California
Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, serving elementary and middle school learners. This full-time position spans an academic schedule from August through June 2027, with a 37.5-hour workweek, Monday through Friday. Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid credential in teaching students with visual impairments
- Experience delivering Braille instruction and using assistive technologies
- Strong understanding of IEP development for visually impaired students
- Excellent communication skills for collaboration with staff, families, and external partners
- Proven ability to adapt curriculum for accessibility and inclusivity
- Reliable transportation for commuting between school sites
Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized and group instruction to elementary and middle school students with visual impairments
- Deliver targeted Braille and orientation/mobility instruction for up to 5 students
- Develop and implement IEPs in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Assess student needs, progress, and adapt teaching methods accordingly
- Advise and resource general educators to support accessible learning environments
- Guide families and caregivers on strategies to reinforce learning at home
- Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with all educational guidelines
