Key Qualifications:
- Must hold a valid California TVI (Teacher of the Visually Impaired) license
- Experience teaching or supporting students with visual impairments in a school setting
- Skilled in assessing student needs, developing and implementing IEPs, and providing required evaluations
- Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, parents, and other specialists
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Comfortable working on-site and integrating into a diverse school community
Responsibilities:
- Develop, adapt, and deliver specialized instruction tailored to the unique needs of a visually impaired student
- Conduct evaluations, track progress, and regularly update Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Provide resources, recommendations, and hands-on support for classroom teachers to foster an accessible learning environment
- Serve as an advocate for the student, ensuring accommodations and modifications are in place for full participation in school activities
- Liaise with families and school staff to promote the student’s academic and social success
- Remain current with best practices, strategies, and tools for visual impairment education
