Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid teaching certification for the visually impaired, or eligibility for state licensure.
- Experience working with students with visual impairments within K-12 settings.
- Proficiency in developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Familiarity with assistive technology and adaptive resources for visually impaired learners.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
- Compassionate and committed approach to student success.
Core Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ visual abilities and needs to inform personalized educational strategies.
- Develop and adapt instructional materials in accessible formats such as Braille, large print, or audio.
- Deliver direct instruction individually or in small groups following IEP goals.
- Support general education staff with modifications and accommodations for visually impaired students.
- Collaborate with IEP teams, families, and related service providers to ensure comprehensive support.
- Track and document student progress, maintaining compliance with educational standards and regulations.
