Certified Early Childhood Teacher of Visually Impaired - Katy, TX

Key Qualifications:
- Active and valid Texas teaching license required
- Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students in early childhood, elementary, middle, or high school settings preferred
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, families, and school personnel
- Comfort and proficiency in traveling between locations as part of an itinerant service model
- Ability to adapt teaching methods and materials to meet students' unique visual needs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction to visually impaired students in accordance with IEP goals
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure accessible learning environments and materials
- Conduct functional vision, learning media, and orientation & mobility evaluations as appropriate
- Develop and implement individualized strategies to foster student independence and academic growth
- Consult with families and staff on best practices and the latest resources for students with visual impairments
- Maintain accurate documentation and participate in IEP meetings
