Teacher of the Visually Impaired in Apopka, FL
Step into a vital role supporting students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) with OMS certification for the upcoming school year. This full-time, contract opportunity is ideal for travel professionals seeking rewarding work with K-12 students across an innovative hybrid schedule. While on-site service is essential, the district offers flexibility—a mix of days providing direct student services in person at various schools and others where virtual sessions or consultations may be delivered remotely.
As an itinerant TVI, you’ll serve 15–20 students throughout approximately 13 school sites (2–3 each day), using the district’s main office as your home base. The position includes both direct instruction and indirect consultative duties. Some services are scheduled monthly, and you’ll play a key role in screening students and employing testing expertise to ensure comprehensive educational plans. The district values candidates with prior school-based experience but encourages others with strong credentials to apply.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Florida Professional TVI License required
- OMS Certification required
- Testing/screening experience with visually impaired students
- Experience with K-12 populations
- School-based experience preferred but not mandatory
- Ability to work both on-site and remotely in a hybrid model
Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored direct instruction and consultation for visually impaired students
- Itinerate among assigned schools, managing a flexible, collaboratively developed weekly schedule
- Perform screenings and assessments as needed
- Maintain accurate case documentation and timely communication with the district
- Participate in the district-specific onboarding process
