Embark on a rewarding contract opportunity as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, bringing your specialized expertise to an impactful role supporting K-12 students across an engaging district near The Villages, FL. Your passion for helping visually impaired learners will help shape educational experiences both onsite and, on a hybrid basis, virtually—allowing for a dynamic and flexible work environment.
Active interviews are being held 7/21, so timely applications are encouraged. You will serve around 15-20 students directly and indirectly, with a home base at the district office and travel to 2-3 schools daily among 13 total schools. Your day runs 8:00am–3:30pm, working closely with district leadership to tailor a commuting and work schedule that fits your needs.
Ideal Qualifications:
- Professional Florida Visually Impaired Teacher (TVI) license
- Orientation & Mobility Specialist (OMS) Certification required
- Experience screening and evaluating students
- Background in providing both direct instruction and consultative services
- School-based experience is highly valued, but not absolutely necessary
- Comfortable supporting K–12 students with diverse needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and indirect instruction and consultation to visually impaired students
- Assess student needs via screenings and develop individualized support plans
- Travel between multiple campuses as part of an itinerant schedule
- Collaborate with school staff, families, and specialists to facilitate student access and achievement
- Complete monthly consultative services and regular documentation
- Participate in district onboarding and credentialing steps promptly upon selection
