Make an impact on students’ educational journeys by providing vital support as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) with Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification. This full-time contract role is open to professionals who thrive in both on-site and virtual (VOCO) environments and are comfortable with periodic travel for direct services. You will serve as an itinerant specialist, managing a K-12 caseload of 15–20 students—delivering both direct and consultative services across multiple schools, with the district’s main office set as your home base.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
- Valid Professional Florida TVI License and OMS Certification (essential for consideration)
- School-based experience strongly preferred, but not required
- Background in student assessment and screening—testing experience necessary
- Comfortable serving K-12 students in a variety of settings
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, multi-school environment
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and indirect instruction and consultation to students with visual impairments across approximately 13 assigned schools
- Conduct assessments and screenings to determine students’ needs and eligibility for services
- Work collaboratively with general and special education staff, as well as families, to support students’ educational plans
- Deliver orientation and mobility training as needed
- Manage flexible scheduling with the district to optimize weekly travel, commute, and student service delivery
- Participate in district’s onboarding and credentialing process, ensuring compliance with procedural and documentation requirements
