Essential Qualifications:
- Valid state teaching certification in Visual Impairment or eligibility for endorsement.
- Demonstrated experience working with students who are blind or have low vision.
- Strong knowledge of assistive technology, Braille, and accessible instructional materials.
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs).
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with parents, staff, and external service providers.
- Adaptable and flexible mindset to meet diverse student needs.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments in various educational settings.
- Assess students' functional vision and learning needs to inform instructional planning.
- Modify curriculum and classroom materials to ensure accessibility.
- Support general and special education staff in strategies for inclusion and accessibility.
- Provide training and resources to students, families, and faculty on use of adaptive technologies.
- Participate in IEP and team meetings as an advocate for students' visual needs.
- Maintain documentation and implement progress monitoring for students.
