- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive equipment
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) for visually impaired students
- Excellent communication, organizational, and collaboration skills
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive classroom atmosphere
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students’ needs and create customized instructional materials
- Deliver direct instruction in areas such as Braille, orientation and mobility, and use of adaptive tools
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure student access and progress
- Advocate for students’ needs, promoting inclusive practices schoolwide
- Monitor and document student progress, adjusting strategies as necessary
- Provide training and resources for staff to support visually impaired students
