Key Qualifications:
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working in educational settings serving visually impaired students
- Familiarity with Braille instruction, assistive technology, and adaptive techniques
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative approach with staff and families
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies to meet diverse student needs
Essential Responsibilities:
- Assess student needs and develop Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals for students with visual impairments
- Deliver direct and consultative services including instruction in Braille, use of magnification and adaptive technology, and orientation and mobility basics
- Collaborate with general education and special education staff to modify curriculum and materials for accessibility
- Counsel students, families, and staff on best practices and resources for visual accessibility
- Participate in IEP meetings and ongoing progress monitoring
- Maintain clear documentation and timely reporting per school and district guidelines
