Desired Qualifications:
- Valid teaching certification for Visually Impaired students (TVI) or eligibility for endorsement
- Previous experience working with children or adolescents with visual impairments in a school environment
- Expertise in adapting general education curriculum to meet individual visual needs
- Familiarity with Braille instruction, assistive technology, large print, and orientation & mobility strategies
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction and consultative support for visually impaired students across various grade levels
- Assess student abilities and develop personalized education plans in collaboration with IEP teams
- Provide and adapt instructional materials and utilize technology tools to increase access and participation
- Support classroom teachers and school staff with training and resources to accommodate vision-specific learning needs
- Monitor student progress through regular assessment and documentation, adjusting strategies as needed for student growth
- Foster independence, self-advocacy skills, and inclusion within the school environment
