Qualifications and Experience Sought:

- Previous experience as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive materials
- Ability to develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) tailored to visually impaired students
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities
- Flexibility to support students in various grade levels and learning environments
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess students' visual abilities and design effective instructional strategies for access to the core curriculum
- Deliver direct and consultative services, including modifying classroom materials and integrating assistive technology
- Collaborate with educational teams, families, and support staff to ensure comprehensive support for students
- Monitor and document progress toward IEP goals, making adjustments to instruction as needed
- Provide direct instruction in Braille reading/writing and orientation/mobility concepts
- Advocate for accessible environments and offer training to school personnel on accommodations and best practices
