We are seeking an experienced Teacher for the Visually Impaired for the 2026–2027 school year, with a blend of on-site student support and hybrid virtual participation in IEP meetings while present on school grounds. The role offers flexible scheduling options, with full- and part-time opportunities available. You’ll become part of a supportive network of educators, collaborating to empower each student’s learning journey.
What We’re Looking For:
- Current Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) teaching certificate with a Vision endorsement
- Skilled in delivering specialized instruction and services to students with varying levels of visual impairment
- Proficiency in Braille strongly preferred; assignments will be tailored to your expertise in Braille and adaptive techniques
- Experience supporting students across multiple campuses a plus
- Ability to attend virtual IEP meetings while remaining on school premises
- Willingness to travel between clustered schools as assigned
- Completion of required district fingerprinting, background check, and employment history review as mandated by House Bill 486
- Prepared to provide visual documentation of licensure
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored vision services in alignment with each student’s IEP
- Collaborate with staff, parents, and a team of TVIs to ensure cohesive support
- Conduct and attend IEP meetings virtually while stationed at assigned school locations
- Adapt strategies to meet the unique strengths and needs of each child
- Leverage resources to promote student independence and growth
- Maintain detailed records and adhere to all compliance and reporting procedures
