Empower students by bringing your expertise as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired to an impactful, part-time contract role for the 2026-2027 school year. This onsite opportunity provides services to a caseload of around eight students, each with unique needs requiring a variety of service minutes on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis. Your work will be integral in supporting and shaping the educational experience for visually impaired students while collaborating with dedicated educational teams.
Qualifications:
- Valid Washington State TVI certification required
- Must complete fingerprint clearance through OSPI
- Demonstrated experience supporting students with visual impairments in a school setting
- Ability to tailor instructional and assistive strategies for a diverse caseload
- Excellent collaboration skills for working with classroom teachers, staff, and families
- Strong commitment to fostering student independence and success
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services per IEP mandates, totaling approximately 15 hours per week
- Assess student needs and monitor progress through formal and informal evaluation
- Develop individualized instructional materials and adapt curriculum as needed
- Coach and support faculty in accessible instructional practices and assistive technology implementation
- Communicate regularly with families and multidisciplinary team members
- Maintain detailed documentation and ensure compliance with all state and federal guidelines
