Make a lasting impact by providing vital support to students with visual impairments across multiple schools. This contract role offers the chance to serve K-12 learners in a dynamic, itinerant setting—supporting approximately 22 students across up to 13 schools. The district will work collaboratively with you to design a schedule that accommodates both your preferences and the service needs, and the main office will serve as your home base for convenience. Some responsibilities involve periodic on-site travel, while many services may be consultative or virtual.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Florida Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) license and OMS Certification (required)
- Strong testing background and comfort with performing student screenings
- Experience in school-based settings highly preferred, though not mandatory
- Ability to deliver both direct and indirect (consultative) services
- Preparedness to provide services for a diverse K-12 caseload
Role Responsibilities:
- Travel to assigned schools (2–3 daily) to provide services to visually impaired students
- Design and implement educational strategies tailored to individual student needs
- Conduct vision screenings and assessments as required
- Collaborate with school staff, families, and district personnel
- Document student progress and participate in eligibility and progress determination meetings
- Deliver both one-on-one direct instruction and periodic consultative services, some of which may be monthly
