Empower students and make a tangible difference by providing specialized support as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a dynamic, student-focused K-12 environment. Based near Clermont, FL, this full-time, itinerant contract position offers a unique blend of on-site and hybrid direct services. The assignment covers approximately 22 students across 13 schools, with the flexibility to determine a schedule that fits your preferences and minimizes commute time. Key Qualifications:
- Valid Florida Professional Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) License
- Orientation & Mobility Specialist (OMS) Certification
- Testing/screening experience required
- School-based experience strongly preferred, but not required
- Comfortable serving K-12 students in both direct and consultative capacities
- Experience handling multiple schools and age groups on an itinerant basis
- Strong communication skills and self-directed organizational abilities
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and indirect services to students with visual impairments across multiple campuses
- Conduct student screenings and assessments to inform individualized service plans
- Collaborate with educators, families, and district staff to implement accessible learning resources
- Provide periodic consultative services to staff and families
- Maintain accurate documentation in line with district policies and procedures
- Assist with onboarding requirements and adhere to credentialing protocols as outlined by the district
This role offers the benefit of a hybrid work schedule, allowing a mix of in-person and virtual service delivery each week. The main office serves as a convenient homebase for planning and coordination. You will play an important part in supporting visually impaired students' access to their curriculum and school community.
