Empower students with visual impairments through dedicated teaching and meaningful impact in this full-time contract opportunity based near Dallas, TX. This position spans the upcoming academic year, starting July 30, 2026, and extending through May 28, 2027. As an itinerant Teacher of the Visually Impaired, your expertise will serve approximately 12-15 students—ranging from elementary to high school—across six schools. Your caseload includes a minimum of three homebound students, offering a dynamic and engaging experience where your support truly matters. Campus assignments and student needs may shift throughout the year, allowing for a diverse professional journey.
What You’ll Need:
- Valid, active Texas Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVI) certification
- Proven experience supporting individuals with visual impairments in a school setting
- Strong collaboration skills for working with teachers, staff, and families
- Flexibility and organizational skills to adjust to changing caseloads and locations
- Commitment to advocating for the needs and learning accommodations of visually impaired students
- Ability and willingness to provide on-site services only
What You’ll Do:
- Deliver personalized instruction based on each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP)
- Foster accessibility and independence through tailored teaching strategies and adaptive technology
- Conduct ongoing assessments to support student progress
- Partner with educational teams across multiple campuses to ensure continuity of support
- Travel between assigned schools as required (all within a reasonable commute)
