Make a meaningful impact as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired, supporting students’ growth and independence across multiple school campuses near Dallas, TX. This full-time, on-site contract position runs from July 30, 2026, through May 28, 2027, with a weekly commitment of 37.5 hours. Work with a diverse group of 12-15 students—including several homebound learners—as you collaborate with educational teams to maximize success for each student. As an itinerant teacher, you’ll offer your expertise at approximately six campuses, providing invaluable support to students and educators within a fluid and dynamic caseload.
What we’re looking for:
- Active Texas State Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TSVI) certification is required
- Previous experience supporting K-12 students with visual impairments, including both classroom and homebound settings
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with students, families, and school staff
- Flexibility to adjust to a changing caseload and campus assignments throughout the school year
- A passion for facilitating accessible learning and empowering visually impaired students to reach their full potential
What you’ll do:
- Develop and deliver individualized instructional plans for students with visual impairments
- Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education teams, and families to create accessible learning environments
- Adapt curriculum and instructional materials as needed
- Provide consultative and direct instructional services at multiple campuses
- Track student progress, participate in ARD/IEP meetings, and maintain thorough documentation
