- Knowledgeable about Braille, assistive technology, and adaptive instructional strategies.
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) specific to visual impairments.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills when engaging with multidisciplinary teams, students, and families.
- Organized, flexible, and adaptable in dynamic school environments.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized instruction and classroom support for students with visual impairments.
- Assess student needs and adapt curriculum materials and activities for accessibility.
- Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure inclusive learning environments.
- Teach Braille reading and writing, orientation and mobility skills, and technology use as needed.
- Participate in IEP meetings, prepare progress reports, and document student achievements.
- Serve as an advocate for students, facilitating open communication with families and the school team.
