Qualifications and Skills:
- Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students of varying ages and abilities who are blind or visually impaired
- Proficiency in Braille, assistive technology, and orientation & mobility concepts
- Strong ability to individualize lesson plans and materials
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities
Primary Responsibilities:
- Assess students' vision-related educational needs in consultation with multidisciplinary teams
- Develop and implement individualized educational plans (IEPs) tailored to each student’s strengths and areas for growth
- Provide direct instruction in Braille, technology, daily living skills, and adapted educational materials
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, support staff, and families to foster an inclusive environment
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and adapt instructional strategies as needed
- Support professional development and training for staff on accessibility best practices
