Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Minneapolis, Minnesota

Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Thorough understanding of best practices for educating students with blindness or visual impairments
- Experience adapting general education materials to accessible formats (Braille, large print, or assistive technology)
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for working with school staff and families
- Ability to assess individual student needs and develop tailored instructional strategies
- Current knowledge of relevant state/federal guidelines and individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Previous experience as a TVI in a K-12 setting preferred
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide in-person, individualized instruction to a student with visual impairment: two 30-minute sessions each month
- Implement strategies and interventions to support the student's learning and functional vision skills
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support staff to adapt materials and facilitate inclusion
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to progress reviews and goal-setting
- Maintain accurate records of services provided and progress
- Serve as a resource for staff and family regarding the student's unique needs and recommended accommodations
- Promote self-advocacy and independence for the learner
