TVI - Monument, Colorado
Make an impact supporting students who are visually impaired in a dynamic school environment as a contract Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI). In this role, you'll work with a diverse group of eight students, spanning Kindergarten through 12th grade, and play a key part in their educational success for the upcoming academic year. The assignment runs from August 11 to May 20, offering a great opportunity to focus your expertise while maintaining a flexible schedule of 15-20 hours per week.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Current certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Previous experience working with students with visual impairments across K-12 grade levels
- Comprehensive understanding of Braille instruction, assistive technology, and adaptive tools
- Ability to collaborate effectively with educational teams, families, and other service providers
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- A passion for enabling student autonomy and success
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized instructional plans tailored to each student's needs and IEP goals
- Provide direct instruction in Braille, visual efficiency, orientation and mobility, and the use of adaptive technology
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to modify curriculum and support classroom integration
- Conduct ongoing assessments and adjust strategies to promote student progress
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the creation of effective support plans
- Serve as a resource and advocate for visually impaired students, their families, and staff
