Preferred Experience and Qualifications:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Experience working with students who have a range of visual impairments
- Familiarity with instructional strategies and adaptive devices for visually impaired learners
- Strong collaboration skills for working alongside general education staff, families, and related service providers
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Confidence serving students in both one-on-one and small group settings
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instructional support to visually impaired students in grades K–12
- Adapt and modify curriculum materials to ensure accessibility and engagement
- Collaborate in developing, implementing, and monitoring IEP goals
- Serve as a resource to faculty, staff, and families regarding best practices and accessibility tools
- Recommend assistive technology and adaptive equipment, offering training as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation and progress reports for each student’s programming
