Make a positive impact supporting K-12 students as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired on a contract basis for the upcoming school year. This role provides specialized instruction and advocacy to students with visual impairments, ensuring access to education and fostering independence for each learner. With a caseload of 8 students, you'll deliver direct and consultative services in collaboration with teachers and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction to K-12 students with visual impairments, adapting materials and curricula as needed.
- Conduct functional vision assessments and provide recommendations for accommodations or assistive technology.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and related service providers to ensure students' needs are met.
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in partnership with families and multidisciplinary teams.
- Support students in building self-advocacy and daily living skills for academic and social success.
- Communicate regularly with families, providing resources and support on visual impairment needs.
- Maintain thorough documentation of student progress and services.
Desired Skills & Experience:
- Certification or licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) required.
- Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments preferred.
- Strong understanding of Braille, assistive technology, and accessible instructional strategies.
- Excellent collaboration, communication, and organization skills.
- Ability to adapt instruction to a range of grade levels and abilities.
