Support the educational journey of students with visual impairments in a dynamic, contract-based role for the upcoming school year. In this impactful position, you will provide specialized instruction to a diverse group of K-12 students, working approximately 15-20 hours per week. Requirements and Desired Experience:
- Valid teaching certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Demonstrated experience working with visually impaired students across multiple grade levels (K-12)
- Strong understanding of adaptive devices, braille instruction, and accessible educational materials
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to liaise with classroom teachers, support staff, and families
- Creative problem-solving abilities and a student-centered approach to instruction
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized and group instruction to students with visual impairments, ensuring access to the general education curriculum
- Assess each student’s unique learning needs and collaborate on the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Work closely with classroom educators and special services staff to create an inclusive, supportive classroom environment
- Adapt learning materials and assistive technology to facilitate full participation in school activities
- Monitor student progress and provide regular updates and recommendations to educational teams and families
