- Bachelor’s degree and visually impaired certification required, along with an active Louisiana DOE certification
- At least 3 years of experience in elementary, secondary, or special education settings
- Expertise in assistive technology for the visually impaired; confident providing both direct student services and professional development
- Strong communication abilities, capable of collaborating with diverse stakeholders and inspiring others
- Exceptional analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Ability to instruct in Braille; familiarity with orientation and mobility training is a plus
- Ability to travel between multiple sites daily and manage a dynamic caseload
- Must complete time-sensitive requirements, including a district-specific background check and drug screening
- Reliable transportation and physical capacity for frequent school visits are essential
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized services to visually impaired students in assigned schools
- Procure and adapt instructional materials, including coordinating Braille resources
- Offer ongoing training to school staff to ensure student accessibility and inclusion
- Maintain strong, proactive communication with general educators and the Louisiana Department of Education
- Analyze student needs, adjust plans, and document progress toward academic and developmental goals
- Support the Director of IDEA and participate in other duties as needed
