Teacher of Visually Impaired in Orlando, FL
Make a meaningful impact in the lives of students by supporting those with visual impairments across elementary, middle, and high school settings. This contract position serves students from kindergarten to 8th grade within two closely situated school clusters. With a manageable caseload of 12 students and a variety of school environments, you’ll have the opportunity to foster growth and independence academically and beyond.
Your day will be spent working across two schools within a cluster, ensuring consistency for your students without requiring excessive travel. The position runs from August 10, 2026, through May 25, 2027, offering a full-time commitment of 35 hours per week. Flexible caseload details will be discussed and can be adapted to fit your expertise.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid educator certification
- National certification supporting teaching students who are visually impaired
- Experience with K–8 student populations preferred
- Successful completion of a district background check and fingerprinting process
- Willingness to undergo district-specific credentialing requirements
- Strong communication and organizational skills for working within itinerant settings
Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction and support to visually impaired students across elementary and middle school campuses
- Adapt curriculum and classroom materials to ensure accessibility and inclusion
- Serve as a resource for general education staff and families, providing expert guidance and advocacy
- Conduct assessments, track student progress, and adjust strategies as needed
- Foster a supportive, positive learning environment emphasizing student potential
