Here’s an exciting full-time opportunity to work as an itinerant Teacher for the Visually Impaired, supporting learners across two closely connected school clusters. Serve a diverse K-8 caseload of 12 students, providing specialized instruction and support tailored to each individual’s needs for the 2026-2027 academic year.
Day-to-day, you’ll travel between elementary and middle school campuses within the Lake Howell and Lake Mary clusters. You’ll collaborate with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and families to provide adaptations, develop individual learning plans, and ensure students with visual impairments have access to the general education curriculum.
Key Qualifications:
- Educator Certification and National Certification required
- Experience teaching or supporting children with visual impairments (K-8 preferred)
- Ability to travel between school sites within a defined regional cluster
- Strong organizational skills for managing itinerant caseloads
- Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support staff
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and advocacy skills
- Must complete district-required background checks, fingerprinting, and form submissions
Typical Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and consultative services for students with visual impairments
- Assess students’ needs, adapt materials, and modify the curriculum for accessibility
- Participate in student planning and IEP meetings, working closely with educational teams
- Offer training to staff and families on assistive technology and classroom accommodations
- Monitor student progress and maintain accurate documentation
- Support successful transitions between grade levels and schools
