This full-time, itinerant position primarily serves students from Kindergarten through 8th grade, supporting them at multiple elementary and middle schools within a close-knit community.
Your impact will be felt as you provide essential instruction and resources to a manageable caseload of 12 students, with opportunities to adapt or negotiate specifics based on your experience and availability. Partner closely with fellow educators to develop individualized learning plans and foster inclusive, accessible environments. Your support will enable visually impaired students to thrive alongside their peers and reach their educational goals.
Key Credentials & Experience:
- Valid Educator Certification and National Certification in Visual Impairment required
- Previous experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired or similar specialty
- Strong understanding of specialized instructional practices and assistive technology
- Adaptability to serve K-8 learners across multiple campuses each day
- Commitment to professional communication, collaboration, and student advocacy
- Ability to meet district background check, fingerprinting, and credentialing requirements
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and consultative support for visually impaired students
- Assess student needs, design individualized programs, and ensure IEP compliance
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families
- Recommend and facilitate use of assistive technology and Braille materials
- Travel between assigned schools as needed within the designated school clusters
