An exciting contract opportunity awaits for a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to deliver specialized instruction across five school campuses. This full-time position runs from October through early June, offering 35 hours per week working with a caseload of 12 direct students plus two consults. You'll provide critical 1:1 and small group support, totaling 690 service minutes weekly, and play a pivotal role in fostering independence and academic achievement for students ranging from preschool through high school.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Florida DOE certification as a Teacher for Visually Impaired required
- Proficiency in teaching Braille
- Relevant experience working with children and adolescents with visual impairments
- Ability to travel between campuses as assigned throughout the district
- Must complete district fingerprint clearance (possibility to expedite via AHCA Clearinghouse fingerprints if previously processed)
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction in Braille and adaptive skills to students with visual impairments
- Consult with staff and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop effective learning plans
- Adapt instructional materials and strategies to meet diverse student needs
- Maintain accurate records of instructional minutes, progress, and outcomes
- Serve as an advocate for students, ensuring accessibility and support throughout the school year
