We invite you to provide vital educational support as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired in a vibrant school community near Port Saint Lucie, FL. This rewarding contract role offers the opportunity to support students across five different schools in the district, focusing on individualized instruction and adaptation for those with visual impairments.
In this role, you will work closely with a direct caseload of 12 students, delivering 690 service minutes per week, in addition to providing consultative support for two more students. Assignments require the ability to teach Braille and adapt materials for diverse needs across varying age groups, ensuring academic and functional access to the curriculum.
Qualifications:
- Valid FL DOE Teacher for Visually Impaired certification required
- Experience teaching Braille and adapting educational content for visual needs
- Familiarity with working in schools and across multiple campuses
- Successful completion of district fingerprinting (candidates previously fingerprinted via AHCA Clearinghouse may expedite the process)
- Demonstrated commitment to supporting students with visual impairments in educational settings
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and consultation in accordance with students’ Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Collaborate with general and special education staff to ensure full participation and access in classroom activities
- Travel between up to five district schools as assigned, offering specialized support
- Track progress and document services provided
- Prepare and adapt teaching materials, focusing on Braille literacy and accessibility
