Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) | Plano, Texas

Make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with visual impairments as an itinerant educator in a dynamic school environment. This contract position offers the opportunity to work with a diverse caseload of 12-15 students (including at least 3 homebound learners) across approximately six campuses. You’ll provide vital support, tools, and strategies to empower students and help each child reach their fullest potential.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Texas Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVI) licensure required
- Experience working with children and youth who are visually impaired in educational settings
- Strong collaboration skills—comfortable working with multidisciplinary teams and families
- Ability to adapt instruction and advocate for students in a variety of campus environments
- Flexibility and organization to manage a fluid caseload that may shift during the school year
- Commitment to fostering independence and academic success for students with visual impairments
Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students on your caseload across elementary, middle, and high school
- Employ individualized instructional strategies, materials, and accommodations
- Support and consult with general/special education staff and families
- Develop, monitor, and document IEP goals, progress, and adjustments
- Travel to assigned campuses (approximately six, with possible changes as needed)
- Serve as a resource for staff, providing training and technical assistance on accessibility, adaptive technology, and inclusive practices
- Maintain communication with families and support networks
This full-time position (37.5 hours per week) runs from late July through the end of May, offering an engaging and impactful school year experience.
