Based onsite near Seattle, this part-time opportunity places you at the heart of student growth, serving a caseload of approximately 8 students in a supportive educational environment. Your expertise will empower students with visual impairments to access their curriculum and reach meaningful academic goals.
Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized educational services to visually impaired students according to their IEPs, maintaining compliance with state and federal requirements
- Schedule and provide weekly, monthly, and quarterly minutes of direct and consultative services totaling about 15 hours per week
- Collaborate closely with classroom teachers, families, and related service providers to develop and implement effective instructional strategies
- Adapt curriculum materials, provide orientation and mobility support, and offer assistive technology recommendations as appropriate
- Complete all necessary lesson documentation, progress monitoring, and student records
Qualifications:
- Valid Washington Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) certification required
- Must complete fingerprinting through OSPI before starting
- Experience working with school-aged children who have varying levels of visual impairment
- Strong communication, organization, and collaboration skills
