Make a meaningful impact as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired supporting students in a contract position for the 2026-2027 school year. This part-time onsite role involves working closely with a caseload of approximately 8 students, providing specialized instruction and guidance tailored to each child’s unique needs. The schedule comprises 15 hours per week, with services scheduled to meet both weekly and periodic requirements.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Washington State Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) Certification (required)
- Successful fingerprint clearance with OSPI prior to start date
- Prior experience serving students with visual impairments in a school setting preferred
- Strong skills in adapting curriculum, developing individualized strategies, and using assistive technology
- Ability to collaborate effectively with classroom teachers, families, and related specialists
- Compassionate, adaptive, and organized in addressing diverse student needs
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver instruction tailored to visually impaired students in alignment with IEP goals
- Assess student progress, monitor learning, and maintain accurate records of service
- Consult and collaborate with educators, staff, and families to support student accessibility and inclusion
- Provide direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility concepts, and use of assistive technology
- Advocate for students’ access across academic and social settings
- Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to student planning and progress reviews
