If you’re a dedicated Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) with an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification, this contract role offers a rewarding opportunity to impact K-12 learners in need of your expertise. This position is ideal for travel candidates, with a homebase at the district office and itinerant assignments spanning multiple campuses.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Professional Florida Teacher of the Visually Impaired license
- Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification required
- Strong preference for candidates with school-based experience (not mandatory)
- Experience in educational screening and testing for students
- Ability to deliver both direct and consultative services
- Comfortable working with K-12 students with varying abilities
Responsibilities:
- Serve as an itinerant TVI, supporting 15-20 students district-wide
- Travel between 2-3 schools each day (total of 13 schools in rotation)
- Conduct visual, academic, and functional screenings
- Deliver individualized instruction, both in-person and virtually (hybrid scheduling available)
- Provide consultative support monthly and as needed
- Create, implement, and monitor educational plans for visually impaired students
- Collaborate with staff, families, and other service providers
