This contract opportunity is perfect for Travel Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVI) who hold an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification. Travel is highly recommended due to unique local needs, and your expertise can make a real impact across the district's 13 schools. Onsite presence is needed, but a hybrid schedule is available—with the flexibility to provide direct in-school services a few days each week and fulfill additional responsibilities virtually.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Florida Professional TVI license and OMS certification
- Background in student testing and screenings
- Experience supporting school-aged children (K-12); previous school-based experience strongly preferred
- Ability to manage both direct instruction and consultative services
- Effective communicator, comfortable with a dynamic, itinerant caseload (15–20 students, ~22 district-wide)
- Willingness to provide services in-person and virtually as needed
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver individualized instruction and consultative support for visually impaired students
- Travel to 2–3 assigned schools per day (district office serves as your home base)
- Screen and assess students, both for direct instruction and consultative recommendations
- Collaborate with special education teams, families, and school staff
- Maintain comprehensive service records and adhere to state and district guidelines
- Create a flexible weekly schedule with district support to optimize your commute and workload
