As a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, you will play a vital role supporting students’ educational journeys across multiple school sites. You’ll collaborate with general and special education teams to adapt curriculum, ensure accessibility, and foster independence for learners with a variety of visual needs.
What We’re Looking For:
- Valid certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Recent experience working with students who have visual impairments in academic settings
- Ability to adapt materials, technology, and instruction for learners with differing levels of vision
- Strong communication skills and flexibility to “float” between sites or caseloads as needed
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct and consultative services for students with visual impairments in K-12 settings
- Assess student needs and collaborate on IEP teams to develop appropriate educational goals
- Design and implement individualized instructional strategies and accommodations
- Work with classroom teachers, paraprofessionals, and families to promote accessibility and student progress
- Monitor and document student growth, adjusting interventions as needed
- Assist in the preparation and use of braille, large print, or assistive technology
