Teacher of Visually Impaired in The Villages, FL
Step into a meaningful role supporting students with visual impairments in a dynamic educational setting near The Villages, FL. This full-time, itinerant opportunity blends direct onsite and virtual services, ideal for travel professionals eager to make a difference across multiple schools.
In this position, you’ll engage with a diverse K-12 caseload, working both directly and indirectly with approximately 15–20 students, delivering essential vision services and supporting staff. With 13 sites on rotation (2–3 per day), you’ll enjoy a variety of environments while making a district-wide impact. The main office provides a home base, and flexibility is a priority—a personalized weekly schedule is developed around your preferences and commute.
Qualifications and Experience
- Valid Florida Professional Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) licensure
- Orientation & Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification required
- Experience providing vision services in school settings strongly preferred, but not mandatory
- Competency in student screening and assessment (testing background essential)
- Comfortable with hybrid work—both onsite and remote service delivery
- Willingness to complete a streamlined, time-sensitive credentialing process
Key Responsibilities
- Provide itinerant visual impairment services across an assigned group of district schools
- Deliver both direct instruction and consultative support for students and staff
- Conduct individualized screenings and assessments as needed
- Manage and adapt service plans for a K-12 population with varying needs
- Maintain clear, professional documentation and participate in onboarding as required
