Step into an impactful role working with students across K-12 as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) with an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification. This contract opportunity offers a blend of virtual and in-person responsibilities in the vicinity of The Villages, FL, supporting approximately 22 students district-wide. You’ll serve as an itinerant educator across 13 schools, spending each day at two to three locations with the district’s main office as your home base. Flexible scheduling accommodates your commute and personal needs.
Key Qualifications:
- Florida Professional TVI License required
- Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Certification is essential
- Testing/screening experience strongly preferred
- Experience in a school environment is strongly valued, though not required
- Comfort providing both direct instruction and consultative services
- Background working with students in Kindergarten through 12th grade is preferred
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and indirect support to 15–20 students with visual impairments
- Conduct ongoing screenings and assessments for eligible students
- Collaborate with educational teams to tailor and adapt instruction
- Travel between multiple campuses as needed (mileage between schools supported by an efficient, collaboratively-built schedule)
- Provide both on-site and virtual services per student needs
- Maintain documentation and coordinate service delivery per district guidelines
