Step into a rewarding role supporting students with visual impairments across a dynamic network of schools in the Winter Garden area. This full-time, itinerant position provides an opportunity to work with K-12 students, delivering essential vision services both directly and indirectly. You’ll design and implement strategies to maximize your impact on approximately 15–20 students district-wide, traveling between 13 campuses with a designated main office as your home base. The schedule is crafted collaboratively to ensure it meets your weekly commute and work preferences.
Candidates must be prepared for consultative services—including monthly check-ins—and conduct screenings and assessments as needed. School-based experience is strongly valued, though not required, and those with a background in testing are encouraged to apply.
What you bring:
- Current Florida Professional certification as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Mandatory Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) certification
- Expertise in both direct instruction and consultative services for visually impaired students
- Experience or strong familiarity with testing and student screening protocols
- Flexibility to travel between multiple sites during the school week
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Preferred: Previous K-12 school-based teaching or consultative experience
What you'll do:
- Provide assessment, direct instruction, and indirect consultative support to students with visual impairments
- Travel between 13 campuses, supporting a caseload of approximately 22 students
- Participate in student screenings and contribute to educational planning
- Collaborate with district staff and families to ensure student success
- Help design individualized schedules to support district needs and your work-life balance
