TVI - Winter Garden, Florida
Exciting opportunity for a Teacher for the Visually Impaired—embrace a dynamic role supporting K-12 students across multiple campuses with both direct and consultative services. This is a full-time contract position (35 hours per week, 8:00am–3:30pm, with a 30-minute unpaid break) starting August 3, 2026, through May 28, 2027. The district has highlighted interest in interviewing candidates promptly following 7/21, so timely applications are encouraged.
You’ll work itinerantly, primarily serving approximately 15–20 students district-wide, ranging in age from kindergarten through high school, across 13 local schools (a few campuses each day). The main office serves as your home base, with a thoughtfully crafted weekly schedule to fit your commute and needs. Some services may be delivered virtually (VOCO), supplemented by periodic on-site travel as required. Occasional consultative visits and student screenings will be part of your routine, so a background in student assessment is essential.
Key qualifications:
- Professional Florida Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) License
- Orientation & Mobility Specialist (OMS) Certification (required)
- Experience in school-based settings is highly preferred, though not mandatory
- Solid foundation in screening and testing for student evaluations
- Willingness to complete district’s two-part onboarding for credentialing
Your responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and indirect instructional and consultative services to students with visual impairments, adapting to their needs while traveling between campuses
- Conduct screenings and assessments as necessary
- Collaborate with staff and families for student progress and individualized planning
- Maintain accurate records and fulfill all district-mandated documentation and timesheet protocols
