Teacher of Visually Impaired - Apopka, FL
Make a lasting impact as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired by supporting students across elementary and middle grade levels for the upcoming academic year. This contract opportunity provides an on-site, itinerant role within a close-knit school cluster, allowing you to foster meaningful progress in a manageable caseload setting. The position starts August 10, 2026, and concludes May 25, 2027.
You’ll be working with a diverse group of students in grades K–8, helping to develop skills that will empower their academic growth and independence. With approximately 12 students on your caseload, your schedule will include service at two schools daily (three in rare cases), offering both consistency and variety throughout the week.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid Educator Certification for teaching visually impaired students
- National Certification in visual impairment teaching strongly preferred
- Prior experience working with students who are visually impaired (elementary or middle school experience is a plus)
- Ability to adapt teaching strategies and materials for a variety of needs
- Completion of required district background check, fingerprinting, and associated forms before starting
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support tailored to the unique needs of students with visual impairments
- Collaborate with general education staff and related service providers to ensure inclusive educational experiences
- Assess student progress and document instructional outcomes
- Communicate regularly with families and educational teams
- Adapt or create accessible instructional materials
