Qualifications:
- Active Colorado teaching license required
- Endorsement or credential as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) and/or Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS)
- Previous experience working with students who are visually impaired is highly valued
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies and adaptive techniques for visually impaired learners
- Exceptional communication, organizational, and advocacy skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary educational team
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, both individually and in small group settings
- Develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with other educators and specialists
- Conduct functional vision assessments and orientation & mobility evaluations, recommending appropriate accommodations and modifications
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to adapt materials and incorporate assistive technology
- Provide guidance and support for families and school personnel regarding best practices for visually impaired students
- Maintain current records and documentation in compliance with district and state requirements
