In this dynamic role, you'll work 37.5 hours per week supporting students with visual impairments. You'll collaborate with educational teams, families, and other specialists to ensure all students have equitable access to the curriculum and school environment. As both a TVI and possible COMS, your guidance will provide essential skills for independence and academic advancement.
Desired Qualifications:
- Valid Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsement for Visual Impairments (TVI)
- Orientation and Mobility Specialist certification (COMS) highly valued
- Previous experience working in a school setting is preferred
- Strong ability to adapt instruction to meet diverse student needs
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative spirit
- Organizational skills to manage caseloads and documentation effectively
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction to students with visual impairments across varied grade levels
- Assess student needs and develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teams
- Provide direct and consultative services to staff and families
- Support orientation and mobility training to foster independent navigation and daily life skills
- Adapt learning materials and classroom environments for accessibility
- Monitor student progress and document outcomes
- Serve as an advocate and resource for visually impaired students and the wider school community
