Key Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) required
- State certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) required
- Experience collaborating with students in a 1:1 setting, preferably in pediatric or school-based roles
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to adapt instruction to meet individual student needs
- Commitment to promoting accessibility and advocating for students with visual impairments
Core Responsibilities:
- Deliver tailored instruction, educational interventions, and modifications in a one-on-one setting for a student with visual impairments
- Coordinate with other educators and allied professionals to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs)
- Assess student progress, modify instructional strategies, and document outcomes to support optimal learning
- Utilize assistive technology and braille materials to foster student independence
- Serve as a resource for staff and families, offering guidance and support for best practices in visual impairment education
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and school policies for special education
