Desired Qualifications:
- Current Colorado teaching license required
- Certification and experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI) and/or a Certified Orientation & Mobility Specialist (COMS)
- Strong knowledge of instructional strategies, adaptive technology, and accessible materials
- Ability to develop and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored for students with visual impairments
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to consult with staff, families, and support personnel
- Previous experience working with school-age children preferred
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct instruction and support services to students who are blind or have low vision
- Assess student needs and progress, adapting instruction for optimal accessibility
- Guide students in developing life skills, orientation, and mobility techniques
- Consult with general and special education staff to foster an inclusive learning environment
- Contribute to multidisciplinary teams to develop and monitor IEPs
- Provide recommendations for materials, technology, and classroom adaptations
- Maintain accurate records and documentation of student progress
- Offer support and training to staff and families as needed
