Key Qualifications:
- Current Colorado teaching license with appropriate endorsement for Visual Impairment
- TVI and COMS (Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist) credentials required
- Experience working with students who are blind or visually impaired across various age groups
- Strong communication skills for effective collaboration with parents, staff, and administrators
- Ability to design and adapt individualized instructional plans and mobility programs
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments in school, community, and home settings
- Conduct functional vision and learning media assessments; develop IEP goals and objectives
- Teach compensatory and adaptive skills, including braille, assistive technology, and daily living activities
- Provide orientation and mobility training to promote independent travel skills
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure the integration of accessible materials, accommodations, and resources
- Serve as resource and advocate for students, families, and school staff regarding visual impairment
