Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students with visual impairments as an itinerant educator within a progressive school community near Garland, TX. This full-time contract role spans the upcoming academic year, with the chance to make a lasting impact on 12-15 students, including several who are homebound. Dive into a dynamic setting, traveling between approximately six campuses and collaborating closely with students, families, and fellow educators to foster an accessible, engaging learning environment.
Key Requirements:
- Valid Teacher of Students with Visual Impairments (TSVI) certification or licensure is required
- Expertise in instructional strategies, accommodations, and adaptive technologies for visually impaired students
- Strong organizational skills; adept at managing a diverse and fluid caseload across multiple campuses
- Experience supporting students from elementary through high school is highly desired
- Excellent interpersonal skills for effective communication with students, families, and multidisciplinary teams
- Previous experience providing services in a school-based, itinerant setting is a plus
Role Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality, individualized instruction to students with visual impairments across several campuses
- Assess learning needs and design, modify, and implement appropriate instructional and access strategies
- Consult and collaborate with classroom teachers, related service providers, and families to ensure comprehensive support
- Travel to assigned campuses, as well as visit homebound students as needed
- Maintain accurate student records and progress documentation according to professional and district standards
- Actively participate in IEP meetings and contribute to the development and review of student plans
This contract position begins July 30, 2026, and offers a consistent schedule of 37.5 hours per week through May 28, 2027. The vibrant and collaborative setting provides professional growth opportunities as you help shape the educational experience for students with visual impairments.
