Elementary Full Time Braillist
ProCare Therapy is seeking a dedicated and qualified Braillist for the 2026–2027 school year in Gig Harbor, WA. This full-time position offers the opportunity to support elementary students with visual impairments by providing accessible instructional materials that promote equitable access to the general education curriculum.
Working closely with educators and support staff, the Braillist plays a vital role in student success by transcribing educational materials into braille, tactile graphics, and other accessible formats.
Work Schedule:
Full-Time
37.5 Hours per Week
Monday–Friday
8:30 AM – 4:00 PM
Student In-Person Days Only

Elementary Caseload
Qualifications:
Background clearance required
Valid Washington State Driver's License or evidence of reliable mobility
Previous school-based experience preferred
Must demonstrate competency with Unified English Braille (UEB) by successfully completing one of the following:
WSSB Braille Competency Test
NBPCB Unified English Braille Exam
Library of Congress Certificate in Literary Braille Transcribing (per WAC 181-82-130)
Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
Ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and multidisciplinary teams
Key Responsibilities:
Transcribe educational materials into braille, tactile graphics, and other accessible formats
Ensure students with visual impairments have timely access to instructional materials
Collaborate with Teachers of the Visually Impaired (TVIs), classroom teachers, and related service providers
Maintain accuracy and quality in braille transcription following Unified English Braille standards
Prepare and adapt instructional materials to meet individual student needs
Support student access to the general education curriculum
Maintain organized records and meet established deadlines for material preparation
Participate in team meetings and collaborate with school staff to support student success
