Support the success of students with visual impairments in an engaging, full-time contract opportunity for the 2026-2027 school year. This role is ideal for certified Teachers for the Visually Impaired (TVI) eager to serve elementary, middle, and high school students, providing essential instruction and fostering inclusive learning environments.
As a Teacher for the Visually Impaired, you’ll collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and implement tailored teaching strategies that align with school guidelines and best practices. The assignment spans the academic year, Monday through Friday, with a consistent 37.5-hour weekly schedule. Three positions are available, allowing for collaboration and peer support within your discipline.
Requirements and Desired Experience:
- Valid certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (VI Teacher).
- Experience providing direct and consultative services to students with visual impairments at varying educational levels.
- Familiarity with adapting curriculum and technologies to meet accessibility standards.
- Competence in assessing student progress through formal and informal methods.
- Strong communication skills to participate in ARD meetings and collaborate with educational teams.
- Commitment to maintaining up-to-date documentation and compliance with district protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver specialized instruction tailored to individual student needs across elementary, middle, and high school settings.
- Collaborate with general and special education staff to facilitate accessible learning environments.
- Conduct ongoing assessments to monitor and document student progress.
- Develop and implement individual education plans (IEPs) in accordance with district and legal requirements.
- Participate actively in ARD meetings relevant to students on your caseload.
- Maintain organized records and adapt instructional approaches as needed.
