As an Assistive Technology Specialist on a contract basis, you’ll collaborate with educators and families to ensure every student receives the tools they need to thrive. What you’ll bring:
- Professional background in special education, rehabilitation, or related technology fields
- Hands-on experience recommending and configuring a variety of assistive technology devices and software
- Familiarity with IEP processes, educational assessments, and relevant documentation requirements
- Ability to train and support teachers, staff, and families on device integration and best practices
- Strong communication and collaboration skills
- Problem-solving mindset with a passion for equity and accessibility in education
How you’ll contribute:
- Assess individual student needs for assistive technology — both hardware and software
- Consult with multidisciplinary teams to write and update recommendations for IEPs
- Provide direct training, troubleshooting, and ongoing support to students, educators, and families
- Maintain thorough records and documentation of device usage, training sessions, and student progress
- Research and pilot new tools as technology evolves, ensuring the school community has access to current resources
- Facilitate integration of assistive technology in classroom and remote learning environments
