A unique opportunity awaits teachers experienced in supporting students with visual impairments. This contract position offers flexible hybrid scheduling—providing the chance to deliver direct services onsite at schools several days a week, while completing additional work virtually from your preferred location. Based out of the district’s main office, you’ll support K-12 students across multiple campuses, offering both direct and consultative services as part of an itinerant model. A collaborative approach is encouraged, with a work schedule designed to fit your availability and minimize commute time.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Florida Professional Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) License
- Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Certification
- Background in student testing and screenings
- Experience working in school-based settings is highly preferred, though not required
- Ability to service a district-wide caseload of 15–20 K-12 students, providing both direct and indirect support
- Strong consultative skills and capacity for itinerant travel throughout the week
Key Responsibilities:
- Travel between 2–3 assigned schools daily, covering up to 13 schools in total throughout the week
- Screen, assess, and deliver instruction to students with visual impairments
- Provide monthly consultative services as needed
- Develop and implement IEP goals, collaborating with school staff and families
- Ensure compliance with district protocols, onboarding processes, and documentation
