This full-time, contract-based role focuses on providing services to K–12 students across approximately 13 local schools, with both direct instruction and consultative responsibilities. The position also includes opportunities for virtual (VOCO) work, supplemented by periodic travel for essential in-person support.
You will be home-based at the district’s main office, with travel scheduled around your needs and student requirements. The district is proactive in creating a weekly schedule tailored to your commute. Your caseload will include 15–20 students, and services will encompass assessments, screenings, and regular consultative visits—some as frequent as monthly.
To ensure success in this role, the following qualifications and experience are desired:
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- Valid Professional Florida Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) License.
- Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Certification (required).
- Testing background—comfortable conducting or overseeing student screenings and evaluations.
- School-based experience is strongly preferred, but driven candidates with equivalent backgrounds will be considered.
- Flexibility to serve an itinerant schedule, traveling among multiple campus locations.
- Strong communication and organizational skills for working with students, families, and school teams.
- Commitment to both direct instruction and indirect consultative services.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver high-quality educational and mobility support services to visually impaired students, K–12.
- Perform evaluations and screenings as needed and maintain clear documentation.
- Provide consultative support for school personnel and families.
- Adapt schedules based on district and student needs—maximum flexibility provided.
- Participate in district onboarding and credentialing to ensure compliance and readiness.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal student outcomes.
