Teacher of Visually Impaired in Clermont, FL
Make an immediate impact supporting K-12 students by providing both direct and indirect services across multiple campuses as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired with an Orientation and Mobility Specialist (TVI/OMS) certification. This full-time, on-site contract position offers you a unique opportunity to travel between schools, offering essential educational services to students with visual impairments. The district will work collaboratively to develop a travel-friendly weekly schedule tailored to your preferences.
You will serve a caseload of 15–20 students in a consultative and instructional capacity, visiting 2–3 campuses per day out of a total of 13 assigned schools. The home base will be at the district main office, and you’ll enjoy a blend of consultative sessions and direct instruction.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Professional FL Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) License
- Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) Certification
- Previous school-based experience working with K-12 populations strongly preferred
- Ability to manage itinerant schedules across multiple school sites
- Strong communication and consultation skills
- Organized, self-motivated, and comfortable with independent travel between locations
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver quality instruction and consultation to students needing visual support across the district
- Collaborate with general and special education staff to support IEP goals
- Travel to various school sites, managing and documenting services provided
- Utilize adaptive technology and instructional materials to maximize student access
- Participate in meetings and contribute to student evaluations and progress reporting
- Complete time-sensitive credentialing and onboarding as required by the district
The school year runs from August 3, 2026, to May 28, 2027, with 35 hours per week scheduled from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm (including a 30-minute unpaid break). Interviews are actively being scheduled as of July 21, 2026.
