Desired qualifications and experience:
- Active DOE certification required
- Experience as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired (TVI), with a strong background in K-12 settings
- Proficient in Braille instruction and assistive technology for visually impaired students
- Familiarity with accessing assistive technology through the Federal Quota program is a plus
- Able to support both general education and students with multiple disabilities in special classrooms
- Expertise in IEP processes, preferably with experience on the TN Pulse platform
- Comfortable using Chromebooks and supporting accessibility for all learners
- Ability to complete fingerprinting and comply with all time-sensitive credentialing
Primary responsibilities:
- Serve a diverse, itinerant caseload evenly split among elementary, middle, and high school students
- Collaborate closely with school teams and attend IEP meetings for assigned students
- Deliver direct instruction in Braille, orientation and mobility, and use of assistive technologies
- Travel between geographically assigned schools to provide equitable support
- Adapt instruction for inclusion in both mainstream and special education environments
