Key Qualifications:
- Department of Education certification in the appropriate area is required
- Demonstrated proficiency with Braille instruction and assistive technology
- Experience with the Federal Quota program for assistive technology is a plus
- Familiarity with TN Pulse or similar IEP platforms
- Skilled in collaborating at IEP meetings and documenting student progress
- Willingness and ability to travel between school sites; schedule and caseload determined shortly before start date
- Fingerprinting and criminal background check required prior to start
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct, specialized instruction to students with visual impairments, spanning general education and multi-disability classrooms
- Adapt curriculum materials for varying student needs and abilities
- Support and train staff in accommodations and use of assistive technology, including Chromebooks
- Partner with teachers, families, and related service personnel to promote inclusion and accessibility
- Participate as an integral member of IEP teams, ensuring student goals are met
